Rick Fulmer

Peter W. Walsh Award Winner!

Rick has been very active in both the communities he has lived in and worked for.

A partial list of his community involvement includes:

  • Numerous Ojai Community School District events including:
    • Junior Achievement of Southern California as a facilitator with the Topa Topa Elementary School
    • Oak View Elementary annual fundraiser carnival and their community garden
  • Ojai Film Festival
  • Ojai Fourth of July parade

    • RYLA program - Building Tomorrows Leaders - High School personal development programs
  • Valley Oak Charter Schools fundraisers and service projects
  • Santa Barbara County United Way Campaign

  • Annual Carpinteria Triathlon
  • House Hold Hazardous Waste Collection days

Rick and his wife Laura are actively involved in many other community and school events.

Rick has been actively involved in the Greater Ventura Area Chapter of MSA. He has served in all of the Chapter Officer positions and was Chapter President in 2002 and again in 2007. Rick has been named the Chapter's Superintendent of the Year in both 2001 and again in 2003. Rick was nominated for the Peter W Walsh Award in 2005 and again this year. Through his involvement in the Chapter he has organized half-day training programs for Agency Maintenance Staff, increased involvement in chapter activities and meetings, and served as chairman of annual Golf Tournaments, Holiday Luncheons, and the Scholarship Committee. In September Rick served as Chairman of the MSA Conference and Equipment Show hosted by the Greater Ventura Chapter. Rick's leadership of the committee was instrumental in hosting a very successful event.

Rick has served on the Executive Board of MSA since 2000 and was the MSA Executive Board President in 2005. Rick has worked with the Executive Board Education Committee and is co-chairman of the Public Works Regional Advisory Council, which is working to expand educational opportunities in the Public Works field at local Community Colleges, and through on-line courses.

Rick is an exceptional leader of the Maintenance Superintendents Association and is very deserving of the 2007 Peter W. Walsh Award for Outstanding Service. Congratulations to Rick for this award and Thank You to the City of Santa Barbara for your support of Rick's involvement in the MSA.

The MSA is an incredible organization…the best I have ever been involved with in over thirty years of working with the public…and I am both honored and humbled by the experience. To be recognized by ones peers is the ultimate achievement.
