Named 2011
Peter W. Walsh Award Winner!

Ken Fischer

Being voted as the recipient of the 2011 Peter Walsh Award is a great personal honor. I recall several conferences over the past 10 years sitting at a table with other persons enjoying the dinner/dance event as that particular conference was winding down. These evenings are always enjoyable. Talking with MSA people from all over California, Arizona and Nevada about what is going on in their lives, sharing interesting work issues and just enjoying others company. I recall reading the personal histories of the nominees for the Peter Walsh Award. It always struck me how many things these people were involved in both their professional and personal lives. Of course, the highlight of the evening was watching all the nominees recognized and you could feel the anticipation in the room while we all waited for a name to be called and then everyone celebrated the result.

There have been many persons who I admire who have won this award, each of whom have put their individual stamp on the award. From the commitment of Tom Borman, the integrity of George Bradley, the ideas of Bill Ornelas, the passion of Steve Esbenshade, the wisdom of Ken Boyce, the professionalism of Jim Howell. The list goes on and reaches back to the founding of MSA.

I am thankful to hold this honor for 2011.
