
The City of San Gabriel has an exciting opportunity for Public Works Director. This position serves on the City's executive team and works under the general direction of the City Manager. The Public Works Director oversees a department staffed by 40 full-time personnel conducting administration, engineering, capital improvement projects, field operations, parks and facilities operations, wastewater operations, fleet services, and general maintenance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Any combination of experience and education may be considered. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills, and abilities would be:
Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is required.
Seven (7) years of increasingly responsible experience in the area of civil engineering design, surveying, inspection, utilities, transportation, traffic, water quality, or engineering plan checking, with at least three years (3) of experience in a management or supervisory capacity is required.
Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License and ability to maintain a satisfactory driving record are required.
Highly Desirable Qualifications
Master’s degree in civil engineering, public administration, or a closely related field is highly desirable.
Possession of a Civil Engineer Professional Engineer (P.E.) license issued by the State of California is highly desirable.
