The MSA Public Works Specialist Certificate Program is a comprehensive 12-week course designed to equip you with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in this field. This program offers flexible online classes that can fit into your busy schedule.
The program consists of weekly modules that are discussed during online meetings with your instructor and classmates. Before the class begins, participants will receive detailed program information and a link to the online class. To earn the prestigious 'Public Works Specialist' certificate, you must complete 12 classes. Alternatively, completing 6 classes will earn you the 'Public Works Technician' certificate.
“Introduction to Public Works” is the prerequisite to all classes.
"Public Works Inspections" is a prerequisite to the Concrete Structures & Inspections class.
"Plans Interpretation" is a prerequisite to the Construction Math & Cost Estimating class.
Otherwise, you may take any of the courses in any order.

There are normally three semesters a year and you can take multiple classes if class timings do not conflict. Starting in 2026, tuition is $175/each online class plus $5.00 administrative fee. This includes tuition, credit card processing fee and all necessary material. There are no other costs associated with these courses.
Each student is required to sign a Scholastic Ethics Code and Syllabus Acknowledgment

Winter 2025: Registration opens September 29, 2025 and closes October 17, 2025 at 5:00 PM PST. Classes will start the week of November 3, 2025, ending January 25, 2026.
Spring 2026: Registration opens February 9, 2026 and closes February 27, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST. Classes will start the week of March 16, 2026, ending June 5, 2026.
Summer 2026: Registration opens June 22, 2026 and closes July 10, 2026 at 5:00 PM PST. Classes will start the week of August 3, 2026, ending October 23, 2026.
Winter 2026: Registration opens December 13, 2026 and closes January 8, 2027 at 5:00 PM PST. Classes will start the week of January 25, 2027, ending April 16, 2027.
