Your next exciting career opportunity awaits you! The City of Tracy’s Operations & Utilities Department is currently seeking a motivated and qualified individual to join their leadership team. There is currently one vacancy in the Utility Line Maintenance Division. The ideal candidate for this position will be a self-starter who can initiate and manage new projects and programs. They must be skilled in both verbal and written communications, have strong customer service skills, be able to troubleshoot problems in the field and be able to foster a sense of team. This position is a critical front-line supervisor who will work closely with both staff and the public.
Responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to:
Plans, organizes, assigns, supervises, and reviews the work of maintenance assigned staff; trains staff in work procedures and safe work practices; evaluates employee performance, counsels employees, and effectively recommends initial disciplinary action; assists in selection and promotion.
Participates in the development of goals, objectives, policies, and procedures for assigned services and programs; recommends and implements policies and procedures including standard operating procedures for assigned operations.
Monitors activities of the maintenance work unit; identifies opportunities for improving service delivery and procedures; provides recommendations concerning process changes; reviews with appropriate management staff; implements improvements.
Coordinates assigned services and operations with those of other service areas, departments, outside agencies, and community groups.
Participates in annual budget preparation; identifies and recommends future resource needs; prepares detailed cost estimates with appropriate justifications; monitors expenditures.
Inspects work in progress and completed work of assigned employees and contractors for accuracy, proper work methods and techniques, and compliance with applicable standards and specifications.
Plan, organize and conduct volunteer projects with various community groups.
