Maintenance Worker IContra Costa County Public Works Department (CCCPWD) maintains over 660 miles of roads, 150 miles of streams, channels and other drainage and over 200 County buildings throughout Contra Costa County. CCCPWD provides services such as Parks and Recreation, Sand Bag Distribution and Flood Control throughout unincorporated areas of Contra Costa County. The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is currently recruiting to fill Maintenance Worker I vacancies. All interested and qualified individuals are encouraged to apply. The Maintenance Worker I classification customarily performs a variety of manual tasks as a member of a maintenance or clean-up crew; and they perform other work as required. They are assigned to perform a variety of manual labor tasks in all weather conditions in connection with construction and maintenance of roads, bridges, buildings, flood control channels and other structures. Maintenance Worker I’s perform traffic control, move and transport materials and debris, dig holes, and level and sweep dirt. They also load and unload trucks, trim trees, cut brush, move and install timbers and boards. Maintenance Worker I’s are required to drive light trucks and operate a variety of hand powered and pneumatic tools.
