The City of Culver City is accepting online applications for HVAC Technician in the Public Works Department.
GENERAL DUTIES:
Inspects, maintains, and repairs air conditioning, refrigeration, heating, and ventilating equipment as well as gas fired water boilers.
Performs inspections and routine preventive maintenance of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment by cleaning, changing filters, greasing, and oiling the equipment.
Installs heating, air conditioning, and ventilating equipment.
Uses a variety of testing equipment to diagnose problems of heating, ventilating and air conditioning equipment such as leak detectors, meters, and electronic testers.
Determines the amounts and types of materials required to install or repair heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Repairs and replaces mechanical and automatic valves. Repairs, replaces, and installs hot water heaters and direct gas fired boilers, refrigeration units, water coolers, ice machines, and ranges.
Performs routine corrective maintenance including the replacement of filters, belts, fan blades, and electrical components such as relays, contractors, disconnect boxes, variable speed drives, variable air volume (VAV) box safety switches.
Maintains records on heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
Maintains and troubleshoots building automation systems related to HVAC operations.
Performs related duties as assigned.
SALARY RANGE:
$67,905.34 - $82,885.92 Annually
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Any combination equivalent to training and experience that could likely provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities would be qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge, skills and abilities would be: high school graduation or equivalent and three (3) years of journey level experience in the installation, service, repair, and operation of heating, ventilating, and air conditioning equipment.
License and Certificates:
Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License.
Must be EPA 608 Universal Certified for refrigerant handling.
Hazardous Material Certificate in Asbestos is desirable.
