    Maintenance Worker- City of Monrovia

    in Full-Time

    The City of Monrovia is looking for an exceptional individual to serve as our next Maintenance Worker. The selected individual will need to be knowledgeable in all things related to maintenance, construction, street repairs, and irrigation systems. The ideal candidate will have a can-do attitude and have the determination to keep our City in pristine shape. The successful candidate will have outstanding customer service skills with the ability to work effectively with the general public, business owners, community groups, and vendors.


    In Monrovia, we believe the way in which projects are accomplished is just as important as the end result. An individual who is committed to serving with humility and who can demonstrate high emotional intelligence will be successful in the role. Competitive candidates will have a hunger to continually search for better ways of doing things and be loyal to the organization and community. The selected individual will be a smart, creative, intuitive thinker and decision maker.


    This position is responsible for a variety of ongoing operational responsibilities including, but not limited to:


    • Maintaining landscape and general parks maintenance for the City’s nine community parks;

    • Performing maintenance and repair of streets, sidewalks, curbs, signs, and etc.;

    • Executing general cleaning and maintenance activities;

    • Performing routine maintenance checks for electrical panels and electrical wiring to identify issues;

    • Conducting safety audits of playground equipment and park amenities;

    • Inspecting ditches, drainage areas and roadside shoulders; and

    · Answering emergency calls from the public and other agencies taking appropriate action such as placing barricades, removing fallen trees and limbs, and emergency patching of streets

    QUALIFICATIONS

    Any combination of education and experience that would provide the required knowledge, abilities, and skills is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the qualifications would be:


    High school graduation and one (1) year experience in park, street, and/or facilities maintenance.


    Experience working with diverse groups and ability to exercise cultural sensitivity and awareness is highly desirable.


    LICENSE OR CERTIFICATE

    Possession of a valid Class C California Driver’s License and a good driving record.American Red Cross certification in CPR/First Aid and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) Essentials.
