Salary Range: $82,365.92 - $113,253.15 annually

The Public Works Manager is responsible for overseeing and managing the operations of the Public Works Department Maintenance Division, including the maintenance of City streets, rights-of-way, fleet, parks, and facilities. This position plans, organizes, supervises, and coordinates both field and administrative functions to ensure effective and efficient service delivery. The Public Works Manager leads the Maintenance Division, fostering teamwork and collaboration while working closely with the Public Works Director. This role also involves preparing, presenting, and analyzing various reports, developing maintenance strategies, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Any combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
Education/Certification:
High school diploma or GED required
Associate’s degree or equivalent such as technical school education with major coursework in construction, maintenance, or related field
Experience:
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in public works maintenance operations
Two years of supervisory experience
License(s)/Certifications:
Possession of, or the ability to obtain, a valid Class C California driver’s license prior to appointment
Maintain a satisfactory driving record
Possession of, or ability to obtain within one year of employment, a valid Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Responder (HAZWOPER) Certification
Possession of a valid Class A California driver’s license, preferred
