This position reports to the Public Works Director and is part of the core department leadership team. The position will lead an operations team of approximately 45 employees (including 2 superintendents and 5 supervisors). Operations programs are also supported by engineering and administrative staff.
The Operations Manager guides the planning, direction, coordination, and management of all maintenance programs in Public Works including; Street paving program and maintenance, concrete repair program, facilities maintenance and janitorial services, fleet program and maintenance, building and infrastructure electrical systems including traffic signals, storm drain maintenance and repair, parking lot and garage maintenance, and downtown hardscape maintenance all fall under the responsibility of the operations group.
As well as program management, you will be responsible for operations programs budget development and monitoring, management and supervision of assigned resources and staff oversight and development. Good coordination and communication of work with other Public Works divisions, Parks and Recreation, Utilities, internal fleet customers, city projects, special projects, work units, and outside agencies and utilities are critical to success in this role.
