    Special Districts Supervisor

    in Full-Time

    The Position

    Under general direction, plans, schedules, assigns, and reviews the work of staff performing a variety of landscape, flood control, environmental compliance, lighting, and traffic signal inspection work related to Special Districts and activities under the Public Works Department; provides highly responsible and complex staff assistance to the Public Works Manager; performs a variety of technical tasks relative to the assigned functional area; and  performs related duties, as required.


    The Ideal Candidate

    The City seeks a candidate with supervisory experience in municipal public works maintenance, including special districts’ landscaping, construction projects, flood control compliance and enforcement.  He or she will be professional, organized, and highly knowledgeable to oversee assigned public works staff responsibly. Effective motivational skills in supervising employees in various classifications is a necessary characteristic of the ideal candidate. The Special Districts Supervisor will inspire his or her team with customer service oriented leadership. The ideal candidate will be able to work constructively and collaboratively within the Public Works team to bring the City’s and Public Works Department’s strategic goals and objectives fruition. The ideal candidate will be able to lead the City’s Special Districts operations in a responsible and proactive manner, aggressively working to improve and enhance the quality of the City’s public works.


    Successful candidates will be able to show a proven track record in related experience and training. A typical example of qualifying experience and training may be: Four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience in municipal public works maintenance, operations, construction, and inspection programs, including two (2) years of supervisory experience. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in public administration or a closely related field.
